03rd August, 2017  |  “This morning, Thursday 3rd August 2017 marks the Opening of the 42nd Pacific Maritime Transport Alliance (PMTA) Annual Conference hosted by the Ports of Auckland Limited in Auckland, New Zealand.

The conference theme, “Sustainability”, reflects the balance that the Pacific port organizations seek between economic health, environmental guardianship, and their contribution to the Pacific communities they support.

In the PMTA Opening this morning, the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) also officially handed over its role as the PMTA Secretariat for more than 10 years, to the Chairman of the  Transport Shared Board of Directors, Mr. Stephen Edwards on behalf of Ports Authority Tonga.

Ports Authority Tonga was also elected yesterday in the PMTA’s Annual General Meeting as the new President of the PMTA for the next 3 years.”
