Ports Authority Tonga won the Best 2013 Website
17 December, 2013 | The Ministry of Public Enterprises’ 2013 Directors Forum and Special Public Enterprises Award named the Tonga’s Ports Authority Tonga (PAT) as the top public enterprise to win ‘Best Web Presence’ and ‘Best Website of the Year’. The Ports Authority Tonga Website www.portsauthoritytonga.com was being assessed against 15 other websites of the Public Enterprises.
The Ports Authority Tonga General Manager, Mr. Mosese Lavemai, and Chairman, Mr. Steve Edwards, were in attendance at the prestigious Public Enterprises Award night.
Other Public Enterprises that received notable recognition include Tonga Development Bank (www.tdb.to), Tonga Cable Limited (www.tongacable.net), and the Friendly Islands Shipping Agency (www.fisa.to).
At the event, Mr. Mosese Lavemai, General Manager of the Ports Authority Tonga, received the award from the esteemed Lady Tuna Fielakepa, the Guest of Honour.
In his address, Mr. Lavemai expressed his gratitude to the Minister for Public Enterprises, Hon. Fe'ao Vakata, and the team at the Ministry for their unwavering efforts in organizing the successful 2013 Award event.
Furthermore, Mr. Lavemai expressed his gratitude to the Board of Directors of the Ports Authority Tonga for their ongoing support. He also extended special recognition to Mr. Talanoa Langi, PAT ICT Systems Officer and Web Developer, and Mr. 'Alo Maileseni for their exceptional dedication and hard work, which played a crucial role in securing the award. Mr. Langi, in particular, was instrumental in the development of the website for the Friendly Islands Shipping Agency (www.fisa.to) in 2011, a runner-up for the award. Additionally, Mr. Langi has served in various capacities within the Tonga Government, including providing technical support for the Ministry of Information and Communications (2009), Tonga Prison (2013), and other private sectors, government departments and ministries. He resigned from his government role and joined the Ports Authority Tonga in 2012, where he continues to contribute his expertise.
Mr. Lavemai concluded his remarks by extending his best wishes to all public enterprises and guests for a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year filled with continued success.
The two-day workshop, hosted by the Ministry of Public Enterprises from Monday, December 16th to Tuesday, December 17th, brought together directors, chief executives, and board members from more than 15 public enterprises. The event was held under the theme "Public Enterprises Business is Our Business."
The workshop culminated in the 2013 Award ceremony, marking the inaugural recognition of the outstanding contributions and efforts of Tonga’s public enterprises.
