Workshop for Managers and Staff to advance
Earlier in the month, the Ports Authority Tonga Ltd conducted a two-day workshop for managers, supervisors and supporting staff from June 4-5, at the Davina House at Ma’ufanga.

Based on the theme, ‘Advancing Ports Authority Tonga,” the key objectives of the workshop was to identify key divisional strengths and challenges, and make practical solutions for a way forward for the organization to improve its operations as a whole.
Facilitated by independent consultant Sinaitakala Tu’itahi, the workshop was opened by a brief remarks by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Ports Authority Tonga, Mr. Stephen Edwards, followed by key presentations by PAT Management.
At the outset, the General Manager Mosese Lavemai presented on the ‘Overview of the organization’s Five-year Plan’, while Divisional Heads presented on the organization’s ‘Business Continuity Plan’ (Human Resources Manager, Mele Lavemaau), Asset Management Plan (Chief Financial Officer, Alo Maileseni), and Safety Issues (Ports Master, Capt. Hakamotu Fakapelea)
The workshop encouraged participation at all levels from each divisions, and it included group sessions and presentations by managers and staff.
During the workshop all employees conducted open discussions about key strengths and challenges experienced by their divisions.
The outcome of the workshop was a compilation of these views to be submitted to management to draw out resolutions or make recommendations for ‘advancing Ports Authority Tonga’ forward in key results areas of risk management, operations, finance and human resources management.
The workshop was attended by 35 employees representing the 5 major divisions of the Authority.
The participation at all level at the Authority contributed to the success of the workshop.
